Our Beautiful Barnegat

Civic pride. Love of nature. Young leadership.

Our First Event

We started with a trail and five trash bags

On May 3, 2026, five OBB members walked the Barnegat Branch Trail with nothing but gloves and garbage bags. A few hours later, they'd worked their way through the woods and into the Atlantic Heights community, picking up what didn't belong.

No grant, no big event budget, just five people who showed up.

The Spark Behind OBA

I decided to build a table of my own.

I grew up loving my community, wanting a hand in shaping it. But when I looked for a seat at the table, my age was the reason I was told to wait.

So instead of waiting, I decided to build a table of my own.

Started by Barnegat High School students

Our Beautiful Barnegat is open to students and young adults ages 13–18, parents and older adults are welcome too. It's built to teach real skills: community service, volunteer work, neighbor and community building, connections, and leadership, while supporting the local businesses and community around us.

Our Mission

Three commitments, one community

Civic Improvement & Development

Strengthening our infrastructure and building new monuments and amenities.

Safekeeping the Natural World

Protecting and growing the wild places that make our home beautiful.

Youth Leadership & Connection

Giving young people a real seat at the table, and each other.

What We're Building

Three programs, one trail forward

From telling Barnegat's story to arguing it well to building it with our hands, here's how OBB turns civic pride into action.

Rooted in Barnegat

Where the Pinelands meet the Bay

Barnegat sits where two treasures meet: the quiet, tea-colored streams of the Pinelands, and the open water of Barnegat Bay.

Sandy pine forests, salt marsh, and shoreline, all within reach of home. That's what Our Beautiful Barnegat is here to protect, restore, and share with the next generation.

Barnegat Bay

Open water at our doorstep.

The Pinelands

Tea-colored streams and sandy pine forest.

Local Parks & Shoreline

The everyday places worth protecting.

Help us build something Barnegat, and the next generation, can be proud of.
